Dubai: Overnight Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner at Al Khayma

The overnight safari is the only version that lets the desert go quiet. Once the evening crowds leave the camp, what remains is silence, a sky with no light pollution, and the dunes to yourself until sunrise. It runs around 16 to 17 hours from afternoon pickup to morning return.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Afternoon and evening

The day begins like a standard evening safari: dune bashing across the Lahbab dunes, sandboarding, camel riding and sunset photo stops, followed by a BBQ dinner and live entertainment at camp.

After the day guests leave

This is the part that makes the trip. The camp empties, the music stops and the desert falls completely silent. With no city glow, the stars are extraordinary — for most guests this is the most memorable hour of their trip to the UAE.

Sleeping in the dunes

You stay in a traditional Bedouin-style private tent with proper bedding. It is simple rather than luxurious, and that is rather the point.

Sunrise

Breakfast is served in the desert as the sun comes up, with a sunrise camel ride available before the drive back — usually returning to your hotel mid-morning.

Desert nights get genuinely cold outside summer, so pack warm layers even if the afternoon was hot. Bring a torch, and a camera that handles low light if you want the stars.
