When people think of Dubai beaches, they picture the iconic Palm Jumeirah or the high-rise backdrop of JBR. And those are wonderful. But Dubai's coastline stretches 72 kilometres along the Persian Gulf, and within that stretch lies a surprising diversity — from glamorous beach clubs with infinity pools to quiet public shores where you might be the only person for 200 metres.
The water is warm year-round (21–33°C), the sand is fine and white, and the sea is calm enough that even timid swimmers feel comfortable. Whether you're after a luxurious sunbed-and-cocktail experience or a simple morning swim, this city has a beach for you.
Public Beaches (Free Entry)
JBR Open Beach (Jumeirah Beach Residence)
The vibe: Dubai's most famous public beach and the one most tourists default to — for good reason. A long, clean stretch of sand backed by the JBR Walk promenade, with restaurants, shops, and The Beach mall (an outdoor mall with a cinema, splash park, and food court) steps away.
Best for: First-time visitors, families, couples, anyone who wants convenience and atmosphere.
Facilities: Showers, changing rooms, lifeguards, sunbed rentals (AED 50–80), water sports operators along the beach.
Crowds: Busy, especially weekends (Friday–Saturday). Go early for a good spot.
Kite Beach
The vibe: Active, sporty, and social. Named for the kitesurfers who launch from its shores, Kite Beach attracts a younger, fitness-oriented crowd. Running tracks, outdoor gyms, volleyball courts, and a skate park surround the beach.
Best for: Active travellers, families (there's a large playground and trampoline park), water sports enthusiasts.
Facilities: Showers, food trucks (excellent quality), changing rooms, volleyball nets, kayak and paddleboard rentals.
Unique feature: The view of Burj Al Arab from Kite Beach is the best free viewpoint of the hotel in Dubai.
La Mer Beach
The vibe: A purpose-built beachfront district combining public beach access with boutique shopping, dining, and entertainment. The design is colourful, Instagram-friendly, and well-maintained.
Best for: Couples, groups of friends, anyone who wants a curated beach-meets-lifestyle experience.
Facilities: Full amenities including a waterpark (Laguna Waterpark), trampoline park, cinema, 80+ restaurants, and free parking.
Al Mamzar Beach Park
The vibe: Spacious, green, and distinctly local. Five beaches spread across a large park with BBQ areas, swimming pools, playgrounds, and manicured lawns. This is where Dubai families spend their weekends.
Best for: Large families, picnics, BBQs, a quieter experience away from the tourist-heavy beaches.
Entry fee: AED 5 per person (AED 30 per car)
Note: Saturday is ladies-only at Al Mamzar. Men are not permitted on Saturdays.
Umm Suqeim Beach (Sunset Beach)
The vibe: The classic Burj Al Arab photo beach. A wide, tranquil stretch of sand with unobstructed views of Dubai's most iconic hotel. Less crowded than JBR but equally beautiful.
Best for: Photography (the Burj Al Arab sunset shot), couples, peaceful morning swims, watching surfers.
Facilities: Basic — showers and a few food outlets. That's part of its charm.
Beach Clubs & Private Beaches
Nikki Beach Dubai
The vibe: International glamour meets Dubai excess. Infinity pool overlooking the ocean, DJ booth, swim-up bar, and a restaurant serving exceptional seafood.
Day pass: AED 200–350 (redeemable on food and drink) | Minimum spend applies on weekends
Best for: Adults-only day out, celebrations, the "see and be seen" crowd.
Zero Gravity
The vibe: A sprawling beach club opposite Skydive Dubai. Watch skydivers land on the adjacent beach while you lounge by the infinity pool with a drink. Friday brunch here is legendary.

Drift Beach (One&Only Royal Mirage)
The vibe: Understated luxury. A calm, adults-only beach with Balinese-style day beds, waiter service, and a Mediterranean restaurant. The beach itself is perfectly maintained.

Best for: Couples seeking a sophisticated, quieter beach day.
Aquaventure Beach (Atlantis The Palm)
The vibe: If you're staying at Atlantis or buying an Aquaventure waterpark ticket, you get access to 700 metres of private beach on the outer crescent of Palm Jumeirah.
Access: Included with Aquaventure ticket (from AED 320) or Atlantis hotel stay.
Best for: Families combining waterpark and beach in one day.
Hidden & Quiet Beaches
Al Sufouh Beach
Location: Between Dubai Marina and the Burj Al Arab.
A long, quiet stretch of beach that hasn't been developed into a commercial experience. It's rougher around the edges than JBR — no sunbed rentals, no lifeguards — but it's also blissfully uncrowded. Kitesurfers and joggers dominate early mornings.
Black Palace Beach (Al Sufouh Hidden Beach)
Location: Near the Al Sufouh area, accessible via a short walk from a small car park between the Royal Mirage and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.
Dubai's worst-kept secret beach. You have to walk down a sandy path between residential villas to reach it, and that short effort filters out 95% of tourists. The beach itself is long, clean, and offers front-row views of the Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab.
Facilities: Absolutely none. Bring everything you need.
Best for: People who prioritise peace over amenities.

Beach Etiquette in Dubai

- ●Topless sunbathing is illegal throughout the UAE
- ●Public displays of affection — holding hands is fine; anything more than that is technically against the law
- ●Alcohol is only permitted at licensed beach clubs and hotel beaches, not on public beaches
- ●Keep it clean — littering carries significant fines in Dubai
