What You'll See and Do

Dolphin Spotting

The waters around Musandam are home to large pods of bottlenose and humpback dolphins. Sightings are common — roughly 80% of cruises encounter dolphins, particularly in the morning when they're most active. They often swim alongside and beneath the dhow, and on good days, you'll see them leaping clear of the water.

Snorkelling

The clear waters of Musandam offer visibility of 10–20 metres, revealing a vibrant underwater world. Expect to see colourful coral formations, tropical fish (parrotfish, angelfish, clownfish), sea urchins, and occasionally sea turtles. The water temperature is comfortable year-round (24–32°C), and even beginners can snorkel comfortably in the sheltered fjord waters.

Telegraph Island

A fascinating historical stop — this tiny island in the middle of the fjords once housed a British telegraph relay station connecting London to India via undersea cable. The ruins still stand, and the surrounding waters are perfect for swimming. Fun fact: the expression "going round the bend" is believed to have originated from the isolation-induced stress experienced by the telegraph operators stationed here.

Cave Exploration

Several sea caves dot the fjord coastline, accessible by small boat or swimming. The interiors are cool and echoing, with shafts of sunlight penetrating through cracks — atmospheric beyond words.
