Three days in the Thai capital, arranged privately for your party alone: an arrival evening at leisure, one full day of guided sightseeing across Bangkok's best-known temples and its royal palace compound, and a free final morning before the transfer back to the airport. It suits first-time visitors to the city, and anyone adding a short stay at the start or end of a longer journey through our other Thailand itineraries.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Arrival Day And Free Time

You are met at Bangkok airport on arrival and driven to your hotel by private air-conditioned car. Standard check-in is from 2pm, and the rest of that day is left open with no sightseeing scheduled, so you can rest after the flight or explore your own neighbourhood on foot. No meals are provided on the day of arrival. The capital's history is closely tied to the Chakri dynasty, which still reigns in Thailand, and you walk through the heart of that legacy the following morning. The night is spent in Bangkok.

A Morning Among The Great Temples

After breakfast on day two, the guided sightseeing begins at the Grand Royal Palace, the compound dedicated to the ceremonies of the Thai royal family. Within the same walls stands Wat Phra Kaew, known for the statue of the Emerald Buddha. From there you continue to Wat Pho, the giant hall of the reclining Buddha, and then to Wat Traimit, famous for its Golden Buddha. Entrance fees to all of these are included, and an English-speaking guide accompanies you for the guided portion of the day. A floating market is not part of this programme; that belongs to our four-day Bangkok temples and floating markets itinerary.

Along The Chao Phraya By Long-Tail Boat

In the afternoon you board a private long-tail boat for an excursion along the Chao Phraya River and the many bustling interior canals that lead off it, which bring you close to everyday life beside the water. The boat calls at Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, and you then return to the hotel with the remainder of the day free. The cruise is private to your group, and drinking water and cool towels are provided as you travel. Breakfast is the only meal included on this day; lunch, dinner and drinks are at your own expense.

Your Last Morning And Onward Plans

Breakfast is served on the final morning and the room is yours until the standard noon check-out, with the time before your transfer left free. You are then driven to Bangkok airport by private car for the flight home, which is where the services end; early check-in and late check-out are not part of the package. Being short, it pairs easily with longer routes: the old royal city in our four-day Bangkok and Ayutthaya itinerary, or the north of the country in our ten-day Truly Northern Thailand tour, both of which sit alongside the rest of our holiday packages.

GOOD TO KNOW

This is a private tour, quoted on request. Included are accommodation on a double or twin sharing basis with daily breakfast, all transfers by private air-conditioned car, all entrance fees, the private long-tail boat cruise, water and cool towels, government taxes and service charges, and an English-speaking guide for guided time only rather than throughout your stay. Not included are international flights, meals beyond the breakfasts listed, drinks, tips and gratuities, personal expenses, and travel insurance, which is compulsory. Surcharges apply over festivals such as Loy Krathong and Songkran and over Christmas and New Year, when a compulsory gala dinner may apply on 24 and 31 December. April to October is treated as low season, November and December as high season.
